Transportation in Bialystok
Bialystok is well connected and has many bus routes all over the city and around. You can buy individual tickets in BKM offices, supermarkets, kiosks or bus driver (cash only).
Individual tickets (prices given in PLN):
- 2,80 normal / 1,40 student* – when bought from BKM office, shop, kiosk
- 3,50 normal / 1,75 student* – when bought from the bus driver
Monthly tickets (prices given in PLN):
- Monthly/30 days – approx. 82,00 normal / 41,00 student*
In order to buy a monthly ticket you need to have an electronic BKM card. You can get one in a BKM office at Lipowa 16 street or Skladowa 11 street. Remember to have your passport and a student ID card with you. Your Mentor can help you with that.
*student tickets are available only with valid student ID card

Bikers and scooters
There is a Bialystok Municipal Bike Transportation called BiKeR. It provides an alternative form of transport, allowing its users to move around the city fast. It supplements the municipal transport in Białystok. There are approx. 60 stations located in different parts of the city, offering approx. 625 bikes. First 20min of using are free of charge.

One of alternative way of transportation in Bialystok are scooters, allowing its users to move around the city fast. You need to find one on the map and book it, unlock it via phone app, use it, park at the end. It costs approx. 0.65pln per minute of using and 0.10pln per minute of parking in case you would like to keep it for later.

The cost of living in Bialystok is slightly lower than in other big cities in Poland. The monthly cost of living per student is approximately 1300-1700 PLN (290-380 EUR)

Be aware of
Drinking alcohol in public places is prohibited. Fine 100-500pln.
Smoking is not allowed in forbidden areas such us bus stops, train stations or most of the restaurant and the fine is up to 500pln.
Dropping cigarette on the street is forbiden and the fine is 50-500pln.
