The University of Białystok is the largest university in north-eastern Poland, both in terms of the number of employees and students, as well as the fields of study and forms of teaching offered. The university currently employs over 1300 people, including almost 800 academic teachers who work at 15 faculties and in the Branch in Vilnius.

The Faculty of Biology, although formally existing since 2019, continues the over 45-year tradition of the Institute of Biology. It consists of six Departments: Plant Biology and Ecology, Evolutionary and Physiological Ecology, Water Ecology, Microbiology and Biotechnology, Paleobiology and Zoology and Genetics. The Faculty's employees conduct advanced molecular, biochemical, ecological, microbiological, paleontological and environmental research, publishing their results in prestigious international scientific journals. They cooperate scientifically with research units both from Poland and around the world. The Faculty has the right to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in the discipline of biological sciences. A great advantage of the Faculty of Biology is its location in the modern campus of the University of Bialystok at 1J Ciołkowskiego Street, surrounded by Zwierzyniecki Park.
The Faculty of Biology educates first-cycle students in the fields of biology, ecobusiness and microbiology. At the second-cycle studies, the faculty of Biology offers a field of biology. Biologists are happy to host nature enthusiasts, including preschoolers, primary and secondary school students. Especially for them, they organize popular science classes, workshops and lectures as part of cyclical actions, e.g. Youth University of Life Sciences, Night of Biologists, Meetings with Science, Eye to Eye with the Matura Examiner. The Faculty also has a field station in Gugny, in the heart of the Biebrza National Park. Owning a station facilitates the establishment of national and international scientific cooperation. It is also a place for scientific meetings, workshops and numerous field activities. On the initiative of biologists, a university apiary was erected on the roof of the Faculty of Biology. Thanks to it, the University of Bialystok can boast of its own, healthy and very tasty honey.

The Faculty of Chemistry is a dynamically developing unit of the University of Bialystok. It consists of three Departments: Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry. Its headquarters is located in a modern campus at 1K Ciołkowskiego Street. The unit has well-qualified scientific staff who publish in prestigious scientific journals. The names of the Faculty's employees can be found, m.in, among the best scientists in the world in terms of the citation rate of their scientific papers (Elsevier ranking). The advantage of the Faculty of Chemistry is also modern infrastructure with comfortable lecture halls, adapted to teaching needs. The laboratories are equipped with modern equipment that allows you to master basic research methods in the field of polymer chemistry, bio- and macromolecular chemistry, chemical analysis, chemistry of organic compounds, forensic and forensic chemistry. The Faculty has a BioNanoTechno Synthesis and Analysis Center consisting of three specialized laboratories. Its task is to modernize and enrich the research potential, as well as to strengthen cooperation with other units of the University.
The Faculty of Chemistry offers such fields of study as: chemistry (first- and second-cycle studies), forensic and forensic chemistry (second-cycle studies) and environmental quality and safety (first-cycle studies). It has the right to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in the field of exact and natural sciences in the discipline of chemical sciences. It cooperates scientifically with the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, the Centre for Biological and Chemical Sciences of the University of Warsaw, the Regional Office of Measures in Białystok, the Polish Metrological Union, the Institute of Plant Protection – National Research Institute Field Experimental Station in Białystok and supports local entrepreneurs with its potential. A well-equipped library and reading room also help employees and students to gain knowledge. Scientists from the Faculty of Chemistry successfully promote exact and natural sciences among children and young people. They visit schools or invite students to their homes as part of actions, e.g. Meetings with Science, Young Researcher Academy, Meetings at Chemists' or the Science and Art Festival.

The Faculty of Computer Science (until October 1, 2023, the Institute of Computer Science) was established in 1999 as part of the then Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and in 2019 t became an independent unit. It consists of the Department of Numerical Methods and four Departments: Bioinformatics, Discrete Processes, Artificial Intelligence and Multimedia and Programming and Formal Methods.
The Faculty offers studies in the following fields: computer science (full-time first- and second-cycle studies where there are two educational paths to choose from: Internet and mobile technologies and computer graphics and multimedia) and computer science and econometrics (full-time first-cycle studies).
The Faculty is located on a modern university campus. Classes are conducted in well-equipped lecture and computer rooms where students can develop their scientific passions and use knowledge in practice. Employees of the Faculty of Computer Science take part, among others in international experiments conduct interdisciplinary research in cooperation with a wide range of research teams. A group works in the unit creators of the Mizar system, one of the most famous and respected systems computer-based verification of evidence and the collection of such substantiated claims (MML Library).
IT specialists also supervise the work of the University Center Computing – a university-wide unit located on the UwB campus. In addition to scientific and didactic activities, the Faculty also conducts various types of popularization campaigns aimed at interested youth. Through a series of years, starting from the school year 2000/2001, the Faculty organizes Regional IT Competition for high school students. Its purpose is to developing IT knowledge and creating young talents in this field. Among the participants of the competition were not only young programming enthusiasts from Podlasie but also representatives of schools from other Polish regions.

The Faculty of Cultural Studies (until October 1, 2023, the Institute of Cultural Studies) has been an independent unit since 2019 but its traditions date back to the times of the Branch of the University of Warsaw in Białystok. The employees of two Faculties contributed to the establishment of the Institute: Humanities (now Philology) and Pedagogy and Psychology (now Educational Sciences).
The structure of the Faculty of Cultural Studies consists of three Departments: Anthropology of Culture, Culture and Media Studies, Contemporary Culture and Film Studies. The Faculty offers students the field of cultural studies (full-time first- and second-cycle studies) and six specializations of education: media and communication, advertising and public relations (bachelor's studies) and communication in digital media, culture of Podlasie, film studies, art criticism (second-cycle studies). Specializations allow you to gain specialist knowledge and skills, such as: creating effective advertising campaigns, working on photographic and film skills, creating content in digital media, learning about the cultural heritage of the region or the mechanisms of the art market.
The Faculty's headquarters – temporary – is located at 20 Świerkowa Street. Ultimately, the unit will be located in the humanities building which will be built on the campus of the University of Białystok.
The Faculty's employees are involved in the study of contemporary culture, in particular Polish culture, the culture of Podlasie in the perspective of communication and media, as well as philosophical and cultural. Research is also undertaken in the field of anthropology of film and media, axiology, art therapy, everyday culture and autoethnography.
Cultural experts of the University of Białystok are valued experts, they are also involved in the social and cultural life of the region and successfully popularize science. On the initiative of students, there are two theatres at the Faculty: Theatre Without a Name and Sedno Theatre. Interesting, original and emotional exhibitions are offered by the Office of the Cultural Exhibitions which is located in the Faculty's headquarters.

The Faculty of Economics and Finance is located in a beautiful, historic building at 63 Warszawska Street. It is a magnificent nineteenth-century palace adapted to the needs of modern education, a showcase of the University and the city. It is one of the largest faculties at the University of Bialystok. It consists of four Departments: Political Economy, Finance, Business Sciences, and Social and Economic Development. The Faculty focuses on the quality of education, friendly conditions for studying, contacts with the external environment, business practice and internationalization. It educates almost one and a half thousand students in three faculties: economics, international economic relations and economic and legal studies. He is authorized to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in the field of social sciences in the discipline of economics and finance.
In 2021, the Faculty was accepted into the prestigious group of members of PRME – the UNO initiative for responsible business and sustainable development. This international network promotes sustainable development at universities, among others by incorporating the idea of responsible business into the content of education. The internationalization of the Faculty means, among others: participation in international projects, for example: BACK IN TOWN – The role of industrial relations and social dialogue in supporting young people's employment and social inclusion at an urban level.
The Faculty cooperates with many organizations, including the Polish Economic Society, the National Bank of Poland – Branch in Białystok, the Association of Accountants in Poland – Branch in Białystok, the Podlaskie Branch of the National Chamber of Tax Advisors, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Białystok and the Tax Offices in Białystok. The Faculty of Economics and Finance’s partners are also renowned schools, especially with an economic profile such as the Nicolaus Copernicus School of Commerce and Economics in Białystok with which a cooperation agreement was signed in 2021. When visiting the seat of the Faculty of Economics and Finance, it is worth taking a look at the so-called Kreatornia. It is a space for students to relax and cooperate.

The Faculty of Educational Sciences which for over 20 years functioned as the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, is a dynamically developing unit of the University of Białystok, bringing together the largest and strongest scientific community of educators in the region. It consists of five Departments: Intercultural and Elementary Education, History and Theory of Education, Special Pedagogy and Creative Activities, Comparative Pedagogy, Social and Educational Studies.
The seat of the Faculty is located in the so-called small campus at Świerkowa Street, in the vicinity of the Rector's Office and there is - among others - a spectacle and didactic auditorium. This investment not only contributed to the improvement of teaching conditions but also enables activities for the benefit of the local community, allowing the University to actively participate in the life of the city and the region.
The Faculty offers modern conditions for studying in the fields of teaching (pre-school and early school pedagogy and special education), pedagogy (care and educational pedagogy and resocialization pedagogy) and social work. It is also authorized to confer the degree of doctor of humanities in the field of pedagogy and to confer the degree of habilitated doctor in the field of social sciences in the discipline of pedagogy.
The Faculty's employees carry out various scientific research concerning, among others intercultural education, the specificity of learning students and teachers, interpersonal communication and creativity. The widely developed educational practice is based on cooperation with schools and other educational, care, rehabilitation and assistance institutions in the region and the country. The Faculty is also an active member of international educational organisations for example the European Teacher Training Association. The Faculty is associated with such projects as the Academic Choir of the University of Białystok, the New Wing Gallery and the StuKot Student Theatre.

The Faculty of History was established on the basis of the Institute of History and Political Science. The establishment of the Institute is associated with the date of 15 July 1968 and the establishment of the Branch of the University of Warsaw in Białystok. The Faculty consists of two Departments: History of Culture and History of Demographic, Economic and Religious Structures, as well as the Centre for Research on Social and Economic Structures of Pre-Modern Central and Eastern Europe.
Scientific research conducted at the Faculty covers all historical eras, starting from antiquity with a broad focus on: the history of the region, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the eastern border of the Republic of Poland, the history of Belarus, Ukraine, the relationship between history and the natural environment and the situation of women in the 20th century. Currently, 15 NCN and NPRH grant projects are being implemented at the Faculty. Our historians publish in the best publishing houses (Routledge, Harrasowitz, Brill, Brepols) and journals in the world (for example: Nature, Classical Quarterly, Annales, Journal of Slavic Military Studies, Continuity and Change, International Journal of the History of Sport and others).
The didactic offer includes studies in the fields of history and eastern studies.
The Faculty is also authorized to confer the degree of doctor of humanities in the field of history and habilitated doctor of humanities in the discipline of history.

Faculty Of International Relations this is the youngest unit of the University of Białystok. It was established in 2023 as a result of the division of the Faculty of History and International Relations which included the Department of International Relations. The establishment of the new unit was possible thanks to the creation of the scientific discipline of international relations in 2022.
The Faculty consists of three Departments: American Studies and Diplomacy, Eastern and International Political Relations Studies and International and Security Policy.
The unit offers a modern field of study: international relations which shows the dynamics of contemporary international relations of the world and combines various fields of science and practice. Students can choose from several educational paths. In the first-cycle studies, these are: American Studies, International Security, Information Management in the International Space and in the second-cycle studies: International Analytics, International Relations in the Post-Soviet Area, the Middle East and North Africa in World Politics.
The strength of the new Faculty is interdisciplinarity. Among the employees of the unit are political scientists, economists, sociologists, lawyers, historians, cultural experts and security specialists. They are experts in their fields and their knowledge is eagerly used by the media, schools, public institutions and expert centers.
The staff of the unit will also be further developed by employing specialists in various research areas of social sciences. There are also plans to cooperate with secondary schools, uniformed services, the media, think-tanks, companies and institutions dealing with the international relations, as well as to expand the educational offer with new foreign languages (Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic) and innovative and original subjects, expanding the areas of international relations, among others, in the field of artificial intelligence, innovation and space.

FACULTY OF LAW this is the largest Faculty of the University of Białystok and one of the most dynamically developing law faculties in Poland. Although it has been operating as an independent Faculty only since 1990, it has been gaining high positions in national rankings.
The Faculty of Law is authorized to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in the field of social sciences in the discipline of legal sciences. In the last evaluation of the quality of scientific activity, the faculty discipline of legal sciences received the highest possible category A+. Faculty law journals are highly rated and indexed in international databases.
In its educational offer, it offers the following faculties: law, administration, security and law, criminology, law and taxes in business, as well as tax consulting and tax administration. In 2022, the law faculty received the prestigious Certificate of Educational Excellence awarded by the Polish Accreditation Committee in the "Excellent Major" category. It provides its students with opportunities for comprehensive development: it intensively cooperates with prestigious centers in Poland and abroad (including partner universities in Europe, Asia and the United States), offers activity in many scientific circles and participation in development programs and projects.
The Faculty of Law of the University of Białystok also houses the Centre for Legal English, the International Centre for Criminological Research and Expertise, the Legal Centre for Education Research, the Centre for Direct Democracy Studies, the Centre for Research on the Baltic States, as well as the Student Legal Clinic, the Centre for Court Practice and the Ombudsman's Customer Reception Point.
UwB lawyers are valued experts who support m.in business, state and local government administration with their knowledge and experience. They are also eager to popularize education among children and young people, with particular emphasis on cooperation with secondary schools in the city and the region. From the beginning of the formation of the structures, the seat of lawyers was and still is an impressive building at 1 Mickiewicza Street.

The Faculty of Management (until October 1, 2023, the Institute of Management) was established as a separate unit in 2019. It consists of two Departments: Strategic Management and Operational Management. Its headquarters is located in a magnificent and historic building at 63 Warszawska Street. The Faculty offers full-time and part-time studies in the field of management in the field of management. At the bachelor's level, there are two specializations to choose from: business management and sales management. On the other hand, in master's studies, you can choose: business management or psychology in management. In addition to academic teachers, practitioners, among others, owners and presidents of companies, managers of business environment institutions and local government officials, share their experience with students. In addition, students have at their disposal well-equipped computer labs and a spacious library.
The employees of the Faculty of Management have extensive experience in the implementation of research and implementation projects at the regional, national and international level.
Their research, among others, focuses on clusters and cluster management, competence gaps in workplaces, corporate social responsibility, human resources management, business ethics, outsourcing in enterprises, flexible forms of employment.
Research also concerns management in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises, technology transfer, IT management systems and management in Industry 4.0.
The Faculty's employees are valued experts, they are willing to cooperate with the economic environment, popularizing, for example, the idea of clustering. The unit conducts research on the competence gap, understood as the mismatch between the competence of employees and the competence needs at the workplace. The research has become the basis for the development and implementation of many specific projects/implementation projects with a total budget exceeding PLN 30 million, primarily in Poland but also in countries such as: Germany, Lithuania, Sweden, Hungary, Norway, Finland, Austria.

The Faculty of Mathematics was established in 2019 as a result of the division of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. It consists of three Departments: Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Mathematical Physics. It is located in a modern campus at 1M Ciołkowskiego Street. Students have at their disposal two auditoriums (for 120 people and for 250 people), seven training rooms and two computer labs.
The Faculty of Mathematics educates students at first- and second-cycle studies in the field of mathematics, on a general academic profile. In undergraduate studies, future mathematicians can choose from the following specializations: theoretical mathematics, financial mathematics, information security. The second-cycle studies offer theoretical mathematics and financial mathematics. In addition, as part of the second-cycle studies in the field of mathematics, it is possible to obtain qualifications to work as a mathematics teacher.
The Faculty puts emphasis on the development of cooperation with employers in order to make the education process more attractive and enable graduates to have an easier start on the labour market. This cooperation takes place through internships and internships for students and graduates.
Since 2015, the Centre for Creative Learning in Mathematics has been operating at the Faculty which closely cooperates with schools. It is a place where students find the atmosphere and conditions for active discovery of mathematics. Workshops, special interactive lectures and competitions are organized, as well as seminars for teachers. In addition, primary and secondary school students can take part in the Young Explorer Club classes.
The Faculty's brand is the annual international scientific conference "Workshop on Geometric Methods in Physics" which has been held in Białowieża for almost forty years. Each time it attracts dozens of scientists from all over the world. Mathematicians from the University of Białystok also take part in actions popularizing science, for example Meetings with Science, Pi Day.

The Faculty of Philology is one of the most dynamically operating units of the University of Białystok. It consists of nine Departments: Lexicology and Pragmalinguistics, Comparative and Applied Linguistics, Slavic Linguistics, Stylistics and Anthropological Linguistics, East-West Philological Studies, European Modernism and Cultural Studies, Modernity and Literary Tradition, English-Language Literatures, Comparative Studies and Editing and Interdisciplinary Philological Studies.
The Faculty cares about a high level of education and appropriate study conditions. Its employees have extensive research and teaching experience, cooperate with many academic centers in Poland and abroad, carry out numerous scientific and popularization projects and continue to improve their qualifications. The Faculty is among others institutional member of ASEEES (The Association for Slavic, East Europen and Eurasian Studies).
The faculty offers the following fields: Polish philology, applied linguistic, philology – specialization modules: English philology, English philology with German, philology English with Spanish, English philology with Russian, French philology (for candidates starting to learn the French language), used French, with Spanish (for candidates starting to learn French and Spanish from scratch), bilingual education, French (from scratch) with English - profile translation, Russian philology – language communication in the media, Russian philology - language communication in administration, English philology with elements of translation studies, Russian philology – translation studies and Polish philology for teachers, foreign philology for teachers.
The Faculty is authorized to award the academic degrees of doctoral and habilitated doctor in humanities in the field of linguistics and literary studies. Philologists of the University of Białystok are well-known and respected popularizers of science, culture and literature. They are invited to the media, to schools, they also host students at their homes, for example as part of the "Week with Philology at the University of Białystok" campaign. A few years ago, the philological community initiated a prestigious series of lectures "Masters' Lectures" and the Anna Markowa literary competition. At the Faculty of Philology also operates a School of Polish Language and Culture called POLLANDO.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Cognitive Science (until October 1, 2023, the Institute of Philosophy) was established as a result of the division of the Faculty of History and Sociology. It combines the decades-old philosophical traditions of the University with new directions in research on mind and cognition. It consists of two Departments: Philosophy and Ethics and Logic, Cognitive Science and Philosophy of Science.
The Faculty offers the following studies: philosophy and ethics (at the bachelor's level), philosophy (second-cycle studies), as well as cognitive science and communication (interdisciplinary studies including, in addition to philosophical courses, elements of psychology, sociology and neurosciences). He is also authorized to confer the degree of doctor of humanities in the field of philosophy.
The employees of this unit deal with classic questions of philosophy and ethics, contemporary problems of the state and socjety as well as the functioning of the mind. Philosophy is a living science that allows you to use the oldest and latest tools to understand the world and yourself.
The strength of the Białystok philosophy is its staff. Classes are conducted by specialists in their fields and many employees take an active part in public debates – as authors of television programs, experts, authors of essays and journalistic texts, as well as lectures and popularizing articles. The Faculty of Philosophy is also involved in campaigns promoting science and socially important problems. The series deserved attention among others "Meetings with Philosophy and Cognitive Science" which aims to popularize socially important problems of philosophy and cognitive science such as the development of modern technologies, equality, justice, the climate threat, the future of democracy and capitalism. The "Brain Week in Białystok" is also very popular – a series of lectures popularizing knowledge about the brain and its functioning, as well as the relationship between neurosciences and social sciences and humanities.

The Faculty of Physics which was established in 2007. It has over 50 years of tradition (in 1969 the Department of Physics was established as part of the Branch of the University of Warsaw). It consists of four Departments: Astrophysics and Theoretical Physics, Magnetic Physics, Condensed Matter Physics and Mathematical Methods of Physics. The Faculty's employees successfully cooperate with important scientific centers in Poland and abroad. They publish the results of their research in renowned international journals. Their names can be found among the best scientists in the world in terms of the citation rate of their scientific papers (Elsevier ranking). Important features of the Faculty include high internationalization and a fairly large percentage of employees from distant parts of the country.
Many employees of the Faculty spent months or even years on foreign internships also in exotic countries such as Japan or Singapore. In 2021, the University of Białystok was included in the prestigious Global Ranking of Academic Subjects thanks to the Faculty of Physics. It is in this discipline (Physics) that UwB has been ranked among the top five hundred highest ranked universities in the world. The Faculty of Physics offers a general academic profile of physics as well as two interdisciplinary specialisations: medical physics (a combination of physics with chemistry and biology) and physics of computer games and robots (physics combined with a large dose of computer science). It guarantees its students not only a high level of teaching, an extensive research base but also excellent teaching conditions. It is headquartered on a modern campus.
The Faculty is also authorized to confer the degree of doctor of physical sciences in the field of physics and the degree of habilitated doctor of physical sciences in the discipline of physics. Scientists from the Faculty of Physics are eager to get involved in the popularization of science. They visit schools, organize open lectures and are experts willingly invited by the media. They take substantive care of the Planetarium and Observatory which already operates on the UwB campus.

The Faculty of Sociology (until October 1, 2023, the Institute of Sociology) was established in 1998 with the launch of master's studies in Sociology. Its structure includes five Departments: Sociology of Culture, Sociology of Politics and Security, Sociology of Knowledge and Education, Sociology of Organizations and Institutions and Cognitive Sociology.
The Faculty's educational offer includes sociology (full-time first- and second-cycle studies). Second-cycle students can choose from various paths of specialization education. The Faculty is authorized to confer the degree of doctor of social sciences in the field of sociology. Graduates of the master's degree program can continue their education in the field of sociology as part of the Doctoral School (of Social Sciences) of the University of Białystok.
The Faculty of Sociology is an important center for the study of borderlands and multiculturalism which is closely related to the cultural specificity of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. The Faculty's employees also deal with the issues of broadly understood changes in contemporary Polish society, keep their finger on the pulse of changes, actively participating in social, artistic and educational activities. The aim of the Faculty is not only to develop science and education but also to stimulate social imagination and sensitivity.
The employees of this unit successfully carry out, among others, international research projects, are members of the Polish Sociological Association, the European Sociological Association, the Internaciolan Sociological Association, the Association of Borderland Studies and other scientific associations. They actively participate in international conferences. Many sociologists from Białystok are socially involved, cooperating, among others, with the Foundation of the University of Białystok, the SocLab Foundation, the Collegium Suprasliense Cultural Association and even the Polish Society of Astronomy Enthusiasts. They actively participate in the cultural life of the city and the region. They provide research support to local institutions and local governments.

The Branch started its activity in 2007. It is the first branch of a foreign university in Lithuania and the first branch of a Polish university outside the country. Its establishment was a huge success of the University of Białystok, Polish and Lithuanian diplomacy, and the Polish minority in Lithuania.
The Vilnius Branch of the University of Białystok fulfils its most important mission. Every year, more than a hundred graduates of Polish schools in Lithuania take up studies in Polish at the UwB Branch. They can choose from the following faculties: economics (first- and second-cycle studies), computer science, European studies and preschool and early school pedagogy. These studies are mostly with a practical profile.
The Faculty in Vilnius not only conducts classes but is also an organizer and co-organizer of international seminars and conferences, as well as a publisher of scientific monographs. Students do very well, studying in a friendly atmosphere. Surrounded by the kindness of employees and lecturers, they develop their scientific interests in three scientific circles operating at the Faculty, go on internships and scientific internships. They also have an attractive scholarship program and their diplomas are recognized in Lithuania, Poland and all member states of the European Union.
Graduates of the Branch contribute to the local labor market and strengthen the Polish intelligentsia in Lithuania.
A new headquarters of the UwB Branch was established at 22 Makowa Street. It is a modern building fully adapted to the needs of the academic community.
