An introduction to Shakespeare’s English, the etymology of English idioms, a review of Canadian painting and testing of English predisposition – among others such attractions for high school students were prepared by English teachers from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Białystok as a part of the nationwide „Night of English Teachers” campaign. It will take place on November 29 this year, registration is already open. Additionally, philologists invite all residents of Białystok to the screening of selected short films.
English Speakers’ Night is a nationwide campaign prepared by English centers from all over Poland. It will include over 180 extraordinally events at 20 universities.
- Year by year, interst in the campaign is growing. Already in September we receive guastions about when the next edition will take place. We are very happy that we can show young people various aspects of what – in a completely different form - we do scientifically on a daily basis – say dr Sylwia Borowska-Szerszun and dr Ewelina Feldman – Kołodziejuk- organizers of this year’s event at the University of Białystok.
This year, students from Białystok high school , including students from patron classes of the 11th Secondary School Captain Witold Pilecki and 3 rd Secondary School named Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński in Białystok will be able to take part in eight lectures and workshops on language, literaturę and culture.

Moreover, we cordially invite all city residents to a unique screening of selected short films from the 17th edition of the Grand OFF Festival of the best Independent Short Films. As part of their professional practice, translation students from Białystok prepared subtitles for Polish recipients. The screening of films by filmmakers from Spain, Canada and Iran who raise contemporary social dilemmas will be preceded by the short panel with the participation of Aleksandra Łukaszyk – Spryszak and her students. We will find out whether creating inscriptions for the festiwal was a difficult task – says dr Sylwia Borowska – Szerszun.
