The new field of study will be included in this year’s recruitment offer of the University of Białystok.

- The Philosophy, politics, economy major is the first adaptation of the Oxford Philosophy, Politics, Economics (PPE) study format in Poland and one of the first in Central Europe. These studies are aimed at educating active members of civil society, aware of contemporary climatic, social, economic and political challenges in accordance with the motto "Understand the world to change it." PPE graduates are influential politicians, journalists, economists and outstanding philosophers - says dr hab. Piotr Kozak, Vice-dean for Science at the Faculty of Philosophy and Cognitive Science. He adds that the Faculty wants to educate active citizens, therefore, as part of the new field of study, it offers knowledge in the field of philosophy, political theory and economics.

Philosophical subjects (for example: philosophy of economy, political philosophy) are intended to combine knowledge about politics, society and the economy. Subjects such as logic and argumentation are intended to develop the skills of reasoning, argumentation and the art of debating. To better understand the world, a module of political science and economics subjects was included in the study program (for example: basics of economics and finance, study of the state and politics). Due to socio-environmental challenges, emphasis is placed on showing the relationship between social sciences and ecology (for example ecology and politics seminar).

Students of Philosophy, politics, economy will be able, after the second year of studies, to independently choose a specialization path in the field of political science, economics or philosophy.

Depending on their interests, graduates will be able to work in public administration, analytical centers, journalism and cultural institutions.

- Thanks to the acquired skills in argumentation and the art of conducting disputes, as well as knowledge of philosophy, political science and economy, they can be part of regional and national political staff. Graduates can continue their education on master's studies in philosophy, political science or economics - adds dr. hab. Piotr Kozak.

The field of Philosophy, politics, economy will be offered as part of full-time first-cycle studies from the academic year 2025/2026. The Faculty of Philosophy and Cognitive Science also offers the following fields of study: Philosophy (second-cycle studies) and Cognitive Science and communication (first- and second-cycle studies).
