On May 13-15, 2024 at the University Library of Jerzy Giedroyc was held the twelfth Annual Conferences of the European Beat Studies Network (EBSN), a scientific society dealing with the work of writers from the so-colled beatnik generations. The year's edition titles "The Beats: Wilderness and Wildness" focused on the faces of nature writing and eco-critical threads in the works of writers such as Allen Ginsberg, Diane di Prima or Gary Snyder.
Thanks for the efforts of the coorganizer, the Faculty of Philology of the University of Bialystok - for which it was also the fourth event in the series of English conferences "Crossroads" - the cyclical, international symposium was held for the first time in Cenrtal and Eastern Europe, gathering over forty researchers representing centers from Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Belgium, Latvia, Great Britain, Japan, United States, South Africa and Taiwan.
In addition to fruitful discussions, guests could also see the beauty of local nature during a trip to the Białowieża Forest.
The strategic partner of the event is the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
