The Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Białystok received European education quality certificates

European education quality certificates

During the National Winter Meeting of Deans of Chemistry Faculties which takes place for the first time in Białystok, the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Białystok, prof. Joanna Karpińska received European certificates of the quality of education for first- and second-cycle studies in chemistry.

The certificates were presented by prof. Robert Pietrzak and prof. Artur Michalak - representatives of the Polish Chemical Society which has been acting as an intermediary in granting European accreditations for several years.

- I would like to congratulate the Dean for all her efforts aimed at the highest possible level of quality of education in chemistry studies - said prof. Artur Michalak during the ceremony.

Thank you very much. I hope that these certificates will be a magnet that will attract candidates to us, as well as help our graduates find a good job everywhere, not only in the region or country because they will be sure that they are educated at a European level - emphasized prof. Joanna Karpińska.

Accreditations: Chemistry Eurobachelor for the first-cycle study program in chemistry and Chemistry Euromaster for the second-cycle study program in chemistry were granted for five years, from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2029.

Graduates starting their studies between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2029 have the right to use the professional title of Bachelor (BSc in Chemistry) / Master (MSc in Chemistry) approved by the University of Białystok and the Association of the European Thematic Chemistry Network (ECTN).

Obtaining foreign accreditation is an additional confirmation of the high quality of education for students and doctoral students at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Białystok, as well as information for study candidates that the study programs meet international education standards and are recognized by other universities and employers in Europe. Having international accreditation is a factor that helps establish cooperation with foreign specialists, facilitates obtaining financing for teaching projects and finding appropriate partner institutions abroad.

The certificates were awarded during the National Winter Meeting of Deans of Chemistry Faculties which takes place on February 6-7 this year at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Białystok. It is attended by dean teams of chemical faculties at universities and polytechnics, as well as related faculties, e.g. Materials Science and Ceramics at AGH or New Technologies and Chemistry at Military University of Technology. In total, the university hosts approximately 130 people from all over Poland including Poznań, Kraków, Lublin, Warsaw, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Gliwice, Katowice, Opole, Siedlce, Rzeszów and Szczecin.

The first day of the Congress was dominated by cultural and social events. A lecture on nuclear energy was delivered by prof. Ryszard Łaźny from the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Białystok, there was also a concert of the Dawid Szymczuk Band (folk band).

The second day of the Congress included discussions in three panels: science, scientist's career, evaluation, learning, PTChem and internationalization, education, recruitment.
